There are certain policy requirements to run a site like this and we are developing ours.
Redaction of submitted material is always a difficult subject, any removal of information reduces transparency. WikiLeaks do not make any redactions, as they think we should know who is actually doing what. We have some sympathy for that but are currently applying the following guidelines, as we are to the profile of issues not individuals. Perhaps this is wrong, send us some feedback.
- Removal of any information that would identify the source (notes, metadata, etc).
- Removal of any names, addresses, emails, phone numbers, of individuals that are not already widely known/accessible to the public. (This is to avoid low profile individuals being singled out, and to try to retain the focus on this issues raised.)
